Wrapping Up 2024: Our Favorite Books, Fun Stats & What’s Next for Bound Sisters

Can you believe 2024 is almost over? This year has been such a wild ride of books, laughs, and sisterly bonding. We wanted to take a moment to look back on our reading journey, share some fun stats, and get you excited for what’s coming in 2025.

Bookish Favorites & Reading Styles

Picking a favorite book this year felt tricky because we all have very different tastes. Kellye (who absolutely loves a mindless read) kept us entertained with picks like Royal Runaway and Assistant to the Villain. As she put it, “Kellye reads books that do not think,” which basically means she likes to let her brain take a break and just enjoy the story without heavy thinking.

Kellye likes to just mindlessly do her tasks while the book plays.”

On the other hand, some of us leaned into books with shorter chapters like The Housemaid, which made it easy to keep turning pages. And we still have plenty of series lined up — like the one Kellye started and is excited to keep reading as the third book drops soon!

Parent life definitely plays into our reading habits, too. With teenagers and busy schedules, sometimes the brain just needs simple, easy entertainment. No complicated games or dense plots, please!

Our 2024 Reading Recap: Stats & Stories

  • 12 books read

  • 615 minutes recorded (that’s about 10 hours of sister talk!)

  • Guest starred on the Bookish Flights podcast (episode 86 — check it out!)

  • Visited 3 new bookstores on a sister trip (shhh, we only shared vague photos)

  • Shortest episode: Adventure Bedtime Stories for Adults at 28 minutes

  • Longest episode: Like She Owns the Place — lots to say there!

  • Most popular episode this year: Royal Runaway (apparently, everyone loves princess talk)

Giveaway Winner Shout-Out

We surprised one lucky listener with a Kindle — a kid’s version but basically the same as the grown-up one (with a cute free cover!). Drumroll please… Congratulations to Danielle Clayton! We hope you enjoy all the reading ahead.

What’s Next for 2025?

We’re kicking off a Read Around the World challenge next year! The goal is to read 12 books, each inspired by or set in a different country or culture. You could read a book by an author from that country, or one that explores that culture deeply.

We’re so excited about this because it’ll push us out of our comfort zones and introduce us to stories from around the globe. There will be lots of chance to share recommendations — Jyl has already added several thrillers to her shopping list!
